Year 10 of this homegrown fest will see dozens of musicians who exude soul from their core take just as many stages around town. Spotlighting passionate performers from all genres, how does blues legend Buddy Guy stack up next to the ever-funky Tower of Power side by side with rap royalty Eric B. & Rakim? All kinds of aural goodness will be shared on bills where DakhaBrakha’s Ukrainian folk is teamed up with the Middle Eastern sounds of Yemen Blues, while Portland’s Dirty Revival will bring a seven-piece band full of brazen soul alongside Con Brio’s seductive rock and roll. Gramatik returns with his smooth electronic grooves while Snarky Puppy alumni Ghost-Note and self-taught bass prodigy MonoNeon will impress with their jazzy hip-hop. Let’s not forget local powerhouse vocalists Liv Warfield and Saeeda Wright, original blues brother Curtis Salgado, jazz luminary Mel Brown, or Redray Frazier’s rockin’ swagger.
