With the college ball summer season at its midpoint, Vortex was already feeling pretty good about our local playoff-clinching Portland Pickles baseball team. And with the inaugural Picklefest just around the corner on Saturday, July 14 at SE Portland’s Walker Stadium in Lents Park, how could it get any better?
Well, Vortex and the Pickles have not only curated a bounty of rising NW talent to take the live stage—including spunky Seattle punks Tacocat alongside Portland’s Kyle Craft bringing the rock and roll and The Parson Red Heads providing their cosmic Americana flair—but also a 12-inch vinyl featuring 12 local artists. And best of all, it’s free to everyone who attends Picklefest!
Yeah, you read that right: A $17 ticket gets you the three aforementioned bands live (set times below) plus a souvenir pint glass with a free first fill, pickle tastings, and a limited-edition vinyl featuring only #PDXmusic! And it’s all followed by a Portland Pickles baseball game, where you’ll be chilling on the Right Field Berm grass.
Now for that vinyl, here are The Sounds of Portland you can take home and spin on your turntable:
Kyle Craft: “Exile Rag” (watch below)
Tango Alpha Tango: “Baby You’re So Fine”
Jenny Don't & The Spurs: “Sunset On The Alamo”
Mimicking Birds: “Belongings”
Rasheed Jamal: “Better Off $$$”
Samuel Eisen-Meyers: “Peace In Mind”
You do not wanna miss Picklefest on Saturday, July 14! Win a pair of tix to see the bands and evening baseball game plus a souvenir pint glass with a free first fill and #PDXmusic records including 'The Sounds of Portland' on 12-inch vinyl and Vortex’s Record Store Day release 'Our City, Our Sounds, Vol. 2' on 10-inch vinyl.
