Mixtape Monday: Timbrrr! Winter Music Festival

Vortex Music Magazine

Featuring plenty of Portland, Seattle and NW talent, the winter wonderland music fest returns to Leavenworth on January 9 and 10. The Banana Stand's Aaron Colter picks a few of his fave tracks from the performers for this week's mixtape.

If you've yet to stop through the Bavarian hamlet of Leavenworth, Wash., the team behind the Timber! Music Festival are definitely calling your name this Friday and Saturday.

Besides the brats, bretzeln and Icicle brews, the Timbrrr! Winter Music Festival lines up a solid offering of 14 local acts for two days of music with time to hit the slopes at Stevens Pass.

The winter counterpart to the summertime Timber! Outdoor Music Festival, Banana Stand Media's Aaron Colter offers a few words and tracks from the performers at this year's Timbrrr!

Though this year's winter Timbrrr! fest will have a lineup that includes hip-hop artist Sol and the ever excellent Deep Sea Diver, the mountain music festival is definitely going to be a beer-soaked, guitar-heavy weekend. If you're headed north to hit the slopes and bask in rock and roll, here are some tracks to get you ready. And if you don't have your tickets yet, don't miss the chance to see one of America's best metal bands in a near perfect setting.

Red Fang: "'Wires' is one of my favorite songs to ever be recorded. Long live Red Fang!"

Hobosexual: "These dudes are pretty damn rad and super friendly—not at all the meth'd-out freaks you might assume from their band name. They'll have a live Banana Stand session coming out in 2015, which the whole team is excited to release."

Dude York: "Sometimes a blast of straight-up rock and roll is all you really want after a few pints. Welcome to Dude York."

Aan: "I have to stop myself from listening to this song too often for fear of it being stuck in my head and blocking out all other thoughts."

Prom Queen: "I hope Prom Queen will play a Halloween show of all their covers in Portland sometime. I'd go to that shit in a heartbeat."
