International Cassette Store Day Returns on Sept. 27

Vortex Music Magazine

Record Store Day's kid brother is back for a second year with over eighty cities worldwide and more than 100 American record stores participating.

Brought to you by fine purveyors of audio cassettes—chiefly coordinators at SoCal's Burger Records (based out of Fullerton, Calif.)—you can score cassette-based releases from the likes of Circle Jerks, Foxygen, They Might Be Giants, Information Society, J Dilla, Julian Casablancas + The Voidz, Natural Child, LP, Karen O, and none other than Peter Broderick and Gabriel Saloman out on Portland's own Beacon Sound.

"Official American ambassadors" of Cassette Store Day and Burger cofounders Sean Bohrman and Lee Rickard recently spoke to Consequence of Sound—skip ahead to 3:41 in the video below—about the new novelty (depending on how you see it) holiday—which'll undoubtedly be a hit in our hip city, especially based on the success of biannual Record Store Days.

So, mark Saturday, September 27 on your calendar and head to Oregon record stores—Jackpot Records, Beacon Sound, 2nd Avenue Records, Music Millennium and House of Records in Eugene—for you cassette fix.
