On a windy and rainy Saturday night, the Texas heat was on in Milwaukie, Ore., when Texas bluesmen Smokin’ Joe Kubek and Bnois King took the stage with their band. With their dueling guitar styles at the forefront and each with a distinctive style that somehow works, after some 26 years together, the blend was near perfection. It was a roadhouse-style blues-rock performance that had it all: gritty Texas blues, a little soul, and songs about whiskey, women, heartache and cornbread. The perfect recipe for a great Saturday night party where everyone had fun.
