Cup o’ Joe is a new all-ages, weekly variety live stream series from violinist, looper and vocalist Joe Kye. In each week’s installment, Kye will curate the “episode around a central theme and invite guest artists for collaborations and conversations,” plus he’ll perform musical improvisations, instigate dance parties, host a kid’s corner, and spotlight “Portland-based businesses he is supporting while [staying] safe at home.” There will also be opportunities where viewers can “interact with Kye through cover requests and segments dedicated to Q&A.” With the show centering around storytelling, in the first episode Kye will dive right into the swirling emotions and how storytelling relates to the Black Lives Matter protests, along with quarantine. His stories and songs “will center around moving from intent to action, and embracing personal vulnerability as a powerful source of inspiration.” He will be joined by Sharon Nyree Williams, the featured guest for 6/13, the executive director of Central District Forum for Arts & Ideas and a black storyteller based in Seattle.
