Nikki Lane at the Doug Fir Lounge on April 29, 2015

Nikki Lane and her band (Alex Munoz on guitar, Ben Eyestone on drums, Eric Whitman on bass and Russ Pahl on pedal steel) played their first headlining show in Oregon and brought their classic country music sound to an enthusiastic crowd last Wednesday at the Doug Fir. In my opinion, Lane is a pure country music sweetheart: Her voice is timeless, and she plays songs like "Man Up," "700,000 Rednecks" and "Sleep With A Stranger" with self-described “white trash” abandon before effortlessly switching to heartfelt songs like “You Can’t Talk To Me Like That” (watch below). Genuine and honest, her songs, like her shows, are packed fire. She’ll be playing Eugene in May and will be back again in Portland with Social Distortion this September.
