The Gritty Birds Podcast: Peter Vaughan Shaver of Sound Advice

Vortex Music Magazine

Bringing you an insider’s view of the Portland music scene, this week's episode features selfless legal sage Peter Vaughan Shaver of Sound Advice law firm.

It's Tuesday and that means The Gritty Birds Podcast is back with a new episode. This week we talk with Peter Vaughan Shaver, the legal expert at Sound Advice who specializes in arts and entertainment law as well as intellectual property, business and internet law.

A lifetime lover of music, Shaver found his way through the challenges of youth by listening to records. Today, he is one of the top arts and entertainment lawyers in Portland, offering advice to the artistic world.

"Let them do the music and I'll do the business," he says. Through preventive dentistry, Shaver helps artists do what they do best: be artists.

We sat down with Shaver to discuss the ins and outs of law and music, talk about some of his favorite artists, and find out what exactly a "glass harmonica" is.

The soundtrack to this week's episode features "White Flight" by Catherine Feeny and Chris Johnedis, available now on Fluff & Gravy Records.
