Same song, second verse? Approaching the 19th year of Yonder Mountain String Band’s signature festival, there’s a familiarity to this familial gathering that those who have gone now know by heart and those who haven’t soon will. The beauty of Strummit is the community that’s been built over the years. There’s the tried-and-true tradition of Yonder’s sets (which started it all), and you can continue to witness the growth of local favorites like Fruition. There are newcomers like the 2019 Band Competition winners One Way Traffic and moments that only happen at Horning’s—particularly the powerful female energy of supergroup Sideboob and their love for ’90s divas. Besides, it’s pretty fun to sing along when you know all the words.
