An all-star lineup of Portland jazz musicians will perform a tribute concert in honor of Jimmy Makarounis, the recently passed owner and founder of the jazz club Jimmy Mak’s. Proceeds from the evening will be used to establish a music scholarship at PSU in Makarounis’ name. Hosted by club owner and showman Tony Starlight, he says, "Jimmy Makarounis created much more than a jazz club. Jimmy Mak’s was a cultural institution that put Portland on the map as a true music city." Also featuring LaRhonda Steele, The Yachtsmen, Paul Creighton, Moose E. Lee and the Soul Vaccination horns: Tickets $25 for general admission floor tickets, $35 for seated balcony, or $65 for a VIP table.
